Yeah, I can't wait for him to finish either. I trust him, and that means a lot when it comes to these kinds of decisions. What I've done so far is take the info from those two sites plus the info in the services window and make up my own mind about what I need. And I've already had to turn one back on. I turned the print spooler off because I don't really need it for my printer, but I had to turn it back on to get a "print to pdf" driver to work.

Well I started with 56 processes running and printed out this guide and then disabled 12 services. I now have 58 processes running. Isn't M$ wonderful. It makes perfect sense - Windows Vista must be a virus.
 Seriously, I couldn't explain that. I don't think that happened to me, and I definitely got a speed improvement by disabling some of the services. And thank God I was able to turn off that d*** security pop-up. It may be good for someone who doesn't know better, but I got tired of telling Vista that yes, I wanted to run portable Firefox, and yes, I really did want to run regedit, and so on, and so on ... -------------------- Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of All Who Threaten Them |
