Cleaning Up After SP3
I slipstreamed SP3 Final and then did a fresh install. The only new files installed by SP3 over SP2 I need in addition to those I generally keep on a Full Install Image are these: It looks like every one of these new system32 files is now needed to open Network Connections in the Control Panel, and then Local Area Connection. credssp.dll.....TS Single Sign On Security Package dot3api.dll.....802.3 Autoconfiguration API dot3dlg.dll.....802.3 UI Helper eapolqec.dll.....Microsoft EAPOL NAP Enforcement Client eappcfg.dll.....Eap Peer Config eappprxy.dll....Microsoft EAPHost Peer Client DLL onex.dll........IEEE 802.1X supplicant library qutil.dll.......Quarantine Utilities C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS Can Be Deleted Permanately: x86_Microsoft.Windows.CPlusPlusRuntime_6595b64144ccf1df_7.0.2600.5512_x-ww_3fd60d63 Note: Replaced the SP2 version of: x86_Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.2600.2982_x-ww_ac3f9c03 ...And its name was changed to: x86_Microsoft.Windows.CPlusPlusRuntime_6595b64144ccf1df_7.0.0.0_x-ww_2726e76a Both can be deleted: x86_Microsoft.Windows.CPlusPlusRuntime_6595b64144ccf1df_7.0.2600.5512_x-ww_3fd60d63 and x86_Microsoft.Windows.CPlusPlusRuntime_6595b64144ccf1df_7.0.0.0_x-ww_2726e76a Keep: x86_Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.2600.5512_x-ww_35d4ce83 Note: Replaced the SP2 version of: x86_Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.2600.2982_x-ww_ac3f9c03 ...And its name was changed to: x86_Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.0.0_x-ww_1382d70a So now x86_Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.0.0_x-ww_1382d70a can be can deleted. Note: When you install Internet Explorer 7 on top of SP3, another Network Diagnostic is created specifically for IE7. C:\WINDOWS\system32\mui\mui424 I delete this new mui424 folder and the new file in it: xpsp3res.dll..... C:\WINDOWS\system32\Setup I delete this new file: koc.dll..... C:\WINDOWS\system32\scripting I delete the scripting folder and its contents. C:\WINDOWS\system32\usmt I delete these new files from the usmt folder: archvapp.inf..... cobramsg.dll..... guitrna.dll..... migisma.dll..... migwiza.exe..... scripta.dll..... sysmoda.dll..... C:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem I delete these new files: napclientprov.mof..... napclientschema.mof.....
